The ‘Beam Me Up Mother’ collection is a series of humorous pen and ink illustrations, with the occasional splash of colour. The drawings revolve around the antics of the 3 main characters, who each star in their own mini-series, often set against the backdrop of the River Mersey waterfront.
They are:
Teddy Boyle – an 87-year old aspiring rock and roll singer/guitarist, who sports a giant quiff.
Miles Pollard – a supercilious, urbane, upper-class toff. A self-styled ‘famous artist‘, Pollard seems to spend most of his time swimming, fully-clothed, in the River Mersey.
Ron Pettigrew – a hapless, innocent chump, trying to make sense of the strange world he inhabits.
